Just like in the world of Naruto, characters here on NRRP have a finite amount of chakra which can run out quickly if they're not careful. Most every jutsu has a chakra cost which drains from your character's overall pool. Every character (unless specified otherwise) begins with a single massive's worth of chakra. Massive is the highest rank in our measurement system. A single massive breaks down into four highs, a high breaks down into four mids, and a mid down into four lows, making the chart look something like this: 1 Massive = 4 Highs = 16 Mids = 64 Lows. A character's overall chakra pool can be increased in a number of ways. The most common are through the Styles system and purchasing more with EXP. A massive is the highest unit of measurement but powerful jutsu may cost multiple massives. Additionally regardless of remaining chakra, all characters have access to a single massive's worth of chakra at all times for the cliche usage of ultimate techniques at the critical moment near the end of the fight. A character using this chakra when they have less than a massive's worth leftover will reduce their chakra to a single mid instantly, unless the character had only a mid or less left, in which case their chakra is reduced to zero. When discussing chakra consumption, there are two terms here that we use: Rank and tier. When the chakra cost of a jutsu is being raised or lowered by a rank, the cost goes up by one (ex: a jutsu with a cost of 2x lows becomes 3x lows when raised by one rank. A jutsu with a cost of 1x mid is lowered to 3x lows when lowered by one rank). Now each measurement of chakra is considered a tier. When the cost of a jutsu is lowered or raised by one tier, it moves to the next unit of measurement (2x mids becomes 2x lows when lowered). A jutsu's cost can never go below 1x low (unless specified otherwise). Therefore, when a jutsu of 3x lows or lower is decreased by a single tier, it is rounded down to the nearest measurement (3x lows or 2x lows is rounded down to 1x low). Unless specified otherwise, all jutsu of the same rank have a flat-line chakra cost due to the freeform nature of our technique system. The amounts are as follows. - E & D-rank: 1x Low
- C-rank: 1x Mid
- B-rank: 1x High
- A-rank: 2x Highs
- S-rank: 1x Massive
- X-rank: 2x Massives+ (based on the technique's strength, complexity, and admin rule.
When in combat, a character's chakra consumption and remaining chakra pool is to be measured and monitored by the individual RPer. People abusing this system will receive a warning and ample punishment on a case-by-case basis. Their chakra consumption should be placed in a spoiler at the end of each combat post (much like they should post their jutsu they use within a post) and, while their remaining chakra pool does not need to be posted, always keep it in mind. When a character depletes their reserves, they become notably exhausted and, of course, cannot use any more chakra techniques. That is unless... When a character's chakra reaches zero, this is the end of the line for most people. The character will become exhausted and continued fighting is ill-advised. Yet a system remains in place for those who wish to risk it all and cannot let their opponents walk away alive. When a character's chakra reaches zero, they enter a state we call Chakra Exhaustion. Essentially the character is granted an additional 2x highs worth of chakra to use in a dire situation. Using any of this chakra reduces your maximum chakra by 2x highs permanently (can be replenished in other ways) and using all of this chakra will end in the character's death.
